What are we?

Chedworth Silver Band is a traditional Brass Band, founded in 1905 in the village of Chedworth, Gloucestershire. Numbers have fluctuated over the years, but we currently have around 25 members. We support ourselves by playing at local fetes, concerts and other events. Our repertoire includes classical arrangements, compositions for brass band by “giants” such as William Rimmer, and Derek Broadbent, musicals, marches and arrangements of recent popular songs. We are not contest band and do not take part in competitions.

Who are we?

The members of the Band both male and female are not now all from Chedworth but come from all walks of life. None of us are professional musicians and none of us would claim to be musical geniuses, but we all do our best to create a good sound.

Why not join us?

Many of us learned to play an instrument through tuition in the band, having never played before. The Band provides the instruments and can also provide tuition. The annual membership fee is a nominal sum, currently £5. If you have always wondered whether you could play an instrument, why not give it a try? If you used to play in the past, why not start again? All we ask in return is that, should you join us, you will support us on as many of our engagements as possible. We practice on Tuesday evenings from 7:30 until 9:30 at our Band room, the Old Methodist Chapel in Chedworth GL54 4AB. Click here to view contact details.
